Our Project '73 Camaro Is Here!

This is how it looked as delivered.

I've been pretty quiet about it, but this past Saturday

It runs and drives, too.

I’ve been pretty quiet about it, but this past Saturday I finally got my hands on a second-gen Camaro and you’re getting the first look at our newest project. I couldn't be happier; it's pretty clean and has a lot of potential. Rust is minimal, mostly on the lower passenger side fender, but other than that it drives and sounds great.

Now if you’re wondering what I have planned for it, let’s just say it'll be clean, but no show car. It’ll have a fairly stout small-block, but it won’t be a drag car. Instead, expect to see something that can do a little of everything, including Open Track events. More importantly, it’s going to be a true daily driver, which will require it to have excellent street manners, deal with 100+ Valley temperatures during the brutal summer months, and be able to idle through the horrendous stop-and-go LA traffic.

The good news; no major rust to deal with.

For the time being, I’m waiting on the title to register and insure it, but here’s where I could use your input. Now that you know where we want to take our project, lets see some of your ideas on the direction we should go. Also, we need a project name for our newcomer; so post your thoughts and potential names here or e-mail me at chevyhi@sourceinterlink.com. The lucky winner will receive a CHP jacket and believe me when I say that these are hard to come by, even for us!

I just purchased a 1976 camaro from the same man you got this car from. It is origional and in need of much love. But with only 83K miles on her and some interesting options It should come out a very nice project. Any ideas?

Awesome! I just got a '72 thats in very decent shape too. I would like to see a pro touring type of set up since this is my plan with my project. You should call it Project Mullet Mayhem!

i`m thrilled over a project second gen! i own a 79 chameleon Camaro..with a 327 and superT10.it`s got a full glass fiber flip frontend and its been widened about 8 inches in the back! its going to be purpose built entirely to the street taking cues from Trans am racing, Nascar and pro touring with lightness in mind because "light is speed and speed is power" Call your project "the Trebuchee" a top secret "the new way" purpose built weapon for the street!!

It's good to see the popularity of the second gen. camaro increasing. I own a 73 camaro, it has a full fiberglass front end with a 468 big block. Just as soon as I get the gears in it I plan to drive it as much as I can this summer. Good luck with you're 73, I'm going to be looking foreward to reading about the updates that you install.

Call her Lola, give her a hydraulic roller and an electric fan (among other things).Project: Stayin' Alive or Saturday Night Fever Either way, hang a disco ball from the rear view

may i recomend, that if you want the 'best' of both worlds, researchthe Father of the F-41 Z-28, and the trans am WS-6 handling packages. HERB ADAMS,he worked at GM. he offers complete kits, i have one on my 1970 1/2 z-28.its awsome! one thing the kit cures totaly is wheel hop and the uncontrouble burn outs know for the 1970-1973 camaros. not to mention the insane handling. have fun.
