I practically live in my truck, so it’s inevitable that things get spilled in it, usually fairly innocuous substances such as coffee and soda. And then there’s the fallout from a stop at In-n-Out Burger. You can count on the aroma lingering for about 3 days, give or take, especially if you order onions. On the other hand, some fragrances don’t depart so easily, and I’m certain that will be the case with the petrochemical cloud that literally set me back on my heels when I opened the truck door this weekend. Given the nature of this job, it’s inevitable that numerous automotive related substances get tucked behind the seat: detailer, oil, carb cleaner—and Gunk. That’s right, the can of Gunk I had stashed got hot and decided to expel its contents inside the cab. The stuff’s impact on the senses upon opening the door is truly startling, and a great lesson in why this kind of stuff should go in the back. Maybe not skunk startling, but a stiff aroma all the same. Has it happened to you? And what did you do to get rid of the smell? (Photo by Avi_Abrams from flickr.com)
