Its been a long while since I did any modifications that didn’t specifically pertain to performance, be it suspension, exhaust, or engine. Yesterday was a little different in that, Sean (FNG) and I wrenched on the Project ’73 Camaro and we got busy with the interior. That’s right; we tossed the nasty carpet, pulled out the factory sound deadener and refurbished it by covering the entire floor with Dynamat and a new carpet kit from Year One. The entire job took nearly 8 hours to complete and it was definitely worth it, at least for me. Although, for what it’s worth I promised Sean that I would help him when the time came to do his Elco (Good thing the cab is small, lol). Of course, I should also mention that this will all be shown in the upcoming November issue.
Now, I’ll admit there’s no rush of adrenalin with this kind of modification, but I will say that the 35 year old second-gen smells better than new and there’s something to be said about a quiet interior. I want performance, but I also want comfort and quite frankly, I have no problem investing into sweat equity for it. Besides, it’s all about getting out there and enjoying the sweet fruits of your efforts – now get out and drive!
