It's been awhile since we've updated you with our 7 second drag radial Nova. After a long '07 season, running two organizations and competing at the Street Car Super Nationals in Las Vegas, we're still at it and we're in the process of updating our veteran 598ci big-block.
Updates include a new Hogan manifold that features a complete 3 stage Edelbrock nitrous system thats been handled by nitrous guru Steve Johnson of Edelbrock and Induction Solutions.
Currently, our new foundation is getting prepped and you can expect to see a detailed bottom end build within the next few months, which will then be followed up by unveiling the all new top end and yes - we're gonna have the dyno figures! All I will say is that we're still staying with a conventional 24.5 degree cylinder head and we're expecting solid numbers out of the new combination. Until the new powerplant is finished, our trusty mill has been still making solid bottom 8 second passes with big mph in the mid 170 range.
One thing many may not know is that the Nova received a complete 25.5 chassis upgrade during the off season. That said, we've entered a whole new learning curve dealing with weight distribution and trying to get the power to the tarmac on the little 275 drag radials.
We're still in the game and doing our thing, but more importantly we're gaining valuable tuning information ranging from sorting out the suspension to dialing in big nitrous hits; all of which we'll report to you in the magazine.
If you happen to make it to a WCHRA or PSCA event, be sure to stop in our pits and say hello!
