Last night, I was at our local dragstrip…
I had had no idea where the sound came from, but all I can tell you is I heard a motor screaming, which was followed by a crash – and it wasn’t on the dragstrip. It wasn’t until we pulled into tech, we saw what happened. A tube chassis Camaro had run into the back of another car and mangled its front clip. The other car got away with a bent up exhaust and looked like it scuffed the paint and bumper. Still, the carnage on the tube car was bad enough that it had to be towed back to his pits. And the cause of the accident – stuck throttle. A quick whack of the loud pedal and it stayed there; at least that’s what we overheard.
Fortunately, no one was hurt and the night went on. Still, it just made me realize that you can never be too careful. While no one can tell you what’ll happen around the next corner, just be sure to keep your eyes open and know what’s around you. This is a no brainer, but it’s worth mentioning - if you’re lining up a car or standing around the water box – never have your back to the cars. All said and done, this is just a little food for thought.
