I’ll be honest, it sucks to lose. Especially when you end up competing with yourself and red light in the first round. It is a sickening feeling and it leaves you questioning what happened and why. But, that’s okay. We (QMP racing) all made it out safely and returned home albeit with our heads down. At least the car didn’t break, at least we had a great time working on the car, and at least everyone made it through the weekend safely. If anything, it’s the whole experience of the race track. It’s the smell, the sights, the sounds, and the competition amongst friends—its practically a family gathering. It’s just everything about racing that brings us there to every event—even if you go out in the first round and get sent back to your trailer.
It’s too bad though, we were flying this weekend. During qualifying, we hit a 7.44 at over 183 mph. Not to shabby for an all-motor small-block door slammer. We are going to keep at it though. Our times keep getting faster and faster and the car is almost “there” in terms of tuning. Our next race in a couple of weeks and once again, we’ll be there making passes. No worries, we’ll get it sooner or later.
