We just got it in, and it’s already making a mess…
Part of owning a project car is the constant maintenance that they seem to always require. It’s not like a new car, where when one thing goes wrong, your dealer provided warranty will take care of it. No, when something goes wrong on the project car, you’ve either got to fix it yourself, or shell out the dough and have someone else fix it. Well, the latter in our case just won’t cut it.
As soon as we had dropped in the small-block crate motor into my brothers ’72 Nova it seems as though it’s been a money pit and things do go wrong and become broken almost daily. I think it might have to do with his style of driving, but I digress. So, what’s the problem this time? The transmission seems to be leaking—a lot! Plus, it is all over the driveway and it’s making a mess. So, the only solution—pull the motor out again. Scott, my brother, seems to be getting quite good at this now though. It keeps him young I guess. Anyway, the motor and tranny are out now and are awaiting new seals to prevent our pesky leaking problem. That’s a good thing because we’ve got some major plans for this sled. One involves a new blower assembly from Weiand—but that’s a whole other story for the future. For now though, we fix the leak and get that motor back in its place.
