It’s crazy how much horsepower and torque can be added to any engine by nitrous. It’s almost unbelievable and it doesn’t seem possible. Yet, it works…brilliantly and so easily. If you think about it, as long as you have a good set of forged internals—have at it. Take for example, our story for December’s issue. We threw on an LS2 with new heads and a cam. After some debate on what power numbers we were expecting, we decided to throw a 150 shot of nitrous through the motor. Instantaneously the motor picked up exactly like it should with gobs and gobs of torque. The torque curve looked like a runway for a Boeing-747. however, it wasn’t enough for the CHP team, so we went after it all. We changed the fuel and nitrous jets to accept a 200 spray. We ran the motor again, and it picked up another fifty or so horsepower—just like it should. With this setup, the engine has got torque for days and horsepower was still on its way up before the bottle ran out of the “juice”. Honestly, I cant wait to get my heap of junk running so I can hook up the bottle and make some blasts down the street or at the track.
