Not only does coffee quench my thirst, taste good, and help me focus, but it also gives Henry De Los Santos and me a chance to regroup our thoughts. Typically, our morning consists of us taking our 3.5 minute walk to the local java-hut where Henry and I both order our usual. He gets the large “regular-drip” and I always get my large Vanilla-latte. As we wait for our coffee to brew we get a lot of things covered. If it’s a Monday, we talk about the weekend’s race results and if it’s during the “meat” of the week, it’s usually about upcoming stories or ones we are currently working on. I’ve found it’s not the coffee that gets this done; it’s just the actual process of going to get it, and the time we take carrying out this action. Once we get back to the building, it’s usually back into Henry’s office where we continue our discussion on cars and drink our brew. It’s usually hotter than the sun (coffee). It’s become a habit though, no not the coffee, but the act of getting it. I could perform just as well on water or juice…but it tastes so dang good and the coffee has helped us get a lot accomplished—becoming an old friend so to speak. I love you coffee…thanks for all your hard work. See you tomorrow.
