It will work for now until we can get a new lid…

HOLE IN ONE

Once our Weiand 142-supercharger kit had been installed on our '72 Nova it was obvious we were going to have a slight fitment issue. With the added height of the supercharger, there was no way the hood was going to fit. And, while instead of grabbing a hammer when something doesn’t fit, we grabbed a jig-saw instead. A new cowl hood was not in the budget so it was up to us to make the factory lid fit. When the hood was off, we made a cardboard template to measure where we were going to place the hole in the factory hood. Once, the hole had been centered we began to cut. Finally, we had a perfect hole to fit around the air cleaner assembly. Additionally, we sanded the hood down and laid some Black Primer down to protect the edges of the bare metal and also to give the car a different look. Overall, we like the new look and we even laid some Black Primer on the deck lid out back to match. Not only are we getting fresh air to the motor and blower, but we saved out on spending un-needed cash on a new cowl hood.
