It’s cool and refreshing to see that hard work does pay off eventually when you have a competent race program under way. In short, Al Jimenez and team (Auto Shop teacher from North Hollywood High School took this years 2008 PSCA championship with his BBC powered ’72 Camaro with a ProCharger. What’s more is this is Jimenez’s first year out making car adjustments with the help of sponsors like Lou’s Performance and the engine tuning changes through the hands of Mike Consolo from QMP racing. The ’72 Camaro is making 1,500 hp to the tires consistently running 7.65 seconds at 189 mph! Although, his last pass lifter a head gasket he still had enough points to real in the overall championship. This industry is like a family, and it’s great to see friends and fellow shops working together trying to achieve the same goal. The best part? The team is actually having fun attending races. It finally makes those late night thrash sessions tearing down the motor for a last minute rebuild worth it. Got any stories similar to the one here?
