Yes, I do have an older sibling…
Aside from looking nothing like me, my brother and I end up working on the project Nova together. I snap the images and lend a hand when it’s possible and he wrenches, but we do rely on each other for the same outcome. Sometimes, he even gets behind the camera but I usually end up deleting the images—they never make it into the magazine, he just thinks they do. Without fail, he always asks where his lunch is and I snap back with, “I’m not buying you lunch”.
The great part about the deal is, all I have to do is tell him when and where, then he shows up with the Nova, or I go and pick it up myself. It works out good that way. Plus, I have the confidence to know that he will show up when I ask and don’t necessarily have to rely on strangers. Time is always tight in the editing business so sometimes even hours count. If a story falls through, there is always the Nova down the street to pull stories on at the last minute. Also, we are both mechanically knowledgeable, so it’s nice to have someone to discuss the parts with and then decide how to go about getting the parts on the car. Now, if I can only get him to help me on the El Camino.
