Written by winning engine builder, tech writer, university lecturer, David Vizard, this book, as the title, ‘How to Build Max-Performance Chevy Small-Blocks on a Budget’ is all about building HP while saving a bunch of money.
Granted the small block Chevy has been with us since 1955 and you might just think this is just another Chevy book with a different slant on much the same tech we have seen before in other publications. Well as we have come to expect almost as a matter of course from DV this book has much tech stuff you will never have seen before. Example - the cam chapter had a totally new way to spec out cams for optimal output from your engine build - not one generically similar. This revolutionary system allows a total novice to spec a cam as good, if not better than your typical successful ProStock engine builder and allows you to do so in under 30 seconds. It is so precise that it even gives the part number you will require. Now that is what most of us would call a real breakthrough and it doesn’t stop at the cam chapter. There are ten example builds detailing the parts needed. If you want to build a 685 hp motor for $4,129 maybe you should get a copy.
This book sells for $25 direct from CarTech (cartechbooks.com) or you can get a serial numbered dedicated autographed copy for $32 plus $6 P&P from David Vizard at MotorTecmagazine.com
It is also available at any of the big national book stores.
