El Toro track day with the gang...
Typically, Henry and I are usually out of the office on photo shoots and chasing down stories. However, there are times that we do get out to hammer some vehicles around. With the recent opportunity to test Henry's newest vehicle, we didn't miss want to miss the chance to slice through the cones. It's a bit of a drive for us from the valley, but the chance to throttle down the 'Vette as well as other vehicles from Camaro Performers and Super Chevy magazine is one we look forward to attending.
For 60-0mph braking tests we utilize a radar gun that allows us to track the vehicles speed as it enters the start cones. Once 60 mph is reached, its up to the driver to slam on the brakes to bring the car to a halt. As the car slows to a stop, the radar gun tracks the process and uploads the data to a computer program running on the laptop. From there it calculates how many feet it takes for a vehicle to stop.
So, how did the Z06 do? You'll have to wait for an upcoming issue to find out, but we can tell you that you'll be amazed at the results you can get with a good set of tires!
