Did I ever mention how much I love g-bodies? Specifically I'm a Buick Grand National fan, but we won't talk about that. Lately my obsession has switched gears to '78-'83 Malibus. I have always liked the simple boxy look of them, and dimensionally they look smaller and lighter than they actually are (because of the full frame and other structural aspects, they are actually sometimes over 3,200 lbs.). Maybe I like them because they make great drag cars and a lot of serious grudge racers run them because at one time they were fairly cheap and common, today though, in California anyway, not so much. There's even a grudge race shootout in the south that offers a "King G-Body" championship belt.

So I'm on the hunt for a g-body and I hope to find an unmolested one, but it will be tough. Searching on g-body-specific websites has only produced former racecars or rust buckets, so hopefully the world will present the right one to me, and for the right price too. I don't mind spending more on one if it's nice, but it seems even owners of these 1980s smog-belchers have delusions of grandeur when it comes to their Malibus. I need to find one owned by a nice old lady that only drove it to church and back, yeah, me and everyone else looking for a project. When I get one, I'll be sure to share it.
